Sneaker, Jeans and T-shirt Basics You Know but You Forgot

You wear these three items practically every single day. But if you keep experimenting with new shapes and styles, you’ll never get struck in jeans and T-shirt rut. There’s a pair of jeans that will flatter every figure, a comfortable T-shirt for everyday of the week, and a pair of sneakers that works with just about any outfit, so the possible combination are end-less, but some universal rules apply:

1. Consider the shrinkage factor when you’re buying cotton clothes. If a T-shirt is super-tight when you try it on in the store, how’s it going to fit once you wash it? Tissue-thin cotton T-shirts need to be hand-washed and hung to dry in order to keep their shape and size. You may want to buy a size up just in case.

2. Ignore size in favor of fit. Sizes vary from brand to brand. If you have to buy one size bigger or smaller than you usually wear, who cares? What’s important is that it fits and flatters your body.

3. When it comes to showing skin, don’t go overboard- cropped T-shirts that expose you belly are so 1999! Seriously, jeans that expose your underwear and T-shirts that expose your midriff aren’t very polished, or stylish, for that matter. If you want to show some skin, try showing off your shoulders or collarbone. It’s much more subtle and sophisticated.

4. For compulsive sneaker shoppers: Control yourself! Paris Hilton may have 50 pairs lined up in her closet, but that doesn’t mean you have to!

So what jean flatters the short person that is overweight?

I've yet to find anything that looks even remotely good on me after my last two pregnancies. It's frustrating, so I've given up on jeans. But I miss the casual comfort...

Short but nice post... what's the basic that many forgets..? if I'm right it's how someone controls himself, hope I hit the target!

I wear jeans and tshirts pretty much every day and I never get bored with my outfits because there really is so much to do with basic jeans and tshirts and like in the picture, you can team them up with a great scarf.
